A combination malaria treatment of Artemether and Lumefantrine: In the study done in Rwanda, British scientists have developed a technology for treating malaria in children using Artemether. [Article] [Want More News from my Great Rwanda?]
Yes we stopped reading too, we think it is truly great that the malaria treatment may help to reduce the mortality rate of us here in Rwanda, but if you read the article for what it states there was a “STUDY” done here IN Rwanda. Which may or may not entail that many to a few of us Rwandans DIED from these “STUDIES”, that’s what a clinical study is, they test out drugs on us poor people (hate to say it) by bribing us with money or whatever; we mean seriously, why would we want to purposefully have a new drug that could harm us be tested out on us.
Check the links out below to find out the horrors of these “STUDIES”
—-“A failed clinical trial HIV vaccine that left 46 Zambian women infected with the HIV virus has sparked controversy….The Microbicides Development Programme (MDP) 301 trial, which was testing if the gel PRO2000 would prevent HIV infection took place between September 2005 and 2009…..Microbicides Development Programme Zambia – a subsidiary of the UK based research entity. ” (Link: http://allafrica.com/stories/201001120938.html)
—“The six trial volunteers suffered multiple organ failure which almost killed them, after receiving injections of the drug TGN1412, a monoclonal antibody designed to calm the immune system. The drug was being trialled as a potential treatment for leukaemia, multiple sclerosis and arthritis.” (Link: http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn10747-horror-clinical-trial-in-test-tube-recreation.html)
On March 13, 2006, six volunteers at Northwick Park Hospital in London were given small doses of a new drug TGN1412 that had been developed by the German biopharmaceutical company TeGenero. As is common nowadays, the trials were run not by the manufacturer but by a company that specialises in clinical trials, Parexel International Limited. The subjects all became so seriously ill that they had to be placed in intensive care. Mr Wilson entered the trial that took place at Northwick Park Hospital to pay for driving lessons.
He and five other volunteers were paid £2,000 to be given TGN1412, created by German pharmaceutical company TeGenero, by medical research company Parexel.” (Link: http://justana-justana.blogspot.com/2008/08/dangers-of-clinical-trials.html)
Her son was encouraged to participate in a clinical trial at the University of Minnesota and other campuses comparing Seroquel, Risperdal, and Zyprexa for schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and schizophreniform disorder, a loosely defined diagnosis for people suffering from “mood disorders with psychotic features.”
The trial was sponsored by AstraZeneca, maker of Seroquel, which put the researchers and university in an obvious conflict of interest. Dan was given 800 mg of the drug. Over 70% of patients in the trial dropped out. But Dan was strongly dissuaded from doing so and remained in it for five months. He’d been given a directive warning that if he failed to continue in the trial, he would be put in a regional treatment center. His mother did not know about the directive until it was too late. This is how Ms. Weiss’s message to me began, in words she wants me to share with PT readers: “My son Dan died almost five years ago in a clinical study at the University of Minnesota, a study he lacked any diagnosis for, and a study that I tried unsuccessfully to get him out of for five months.” (Link: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/side-effects/200906/when-drug-trials-go-terribly-wrong-lessons-bereaved-mother)
SO IN THE END WE SAY WHY WOULD RWANDANS TRUST THE BRITISH (one of the colonial powers) TO CARE ENOUGH ABOUT THEM TO HELP FIND A MALARIA VACCINE? ITS QUITE CLEAR THAT THEY ARE USING US RWANDANS AS GUINEA PIGS….WHEN WILL WE WAKE UP?
WE MEAN WOULD YOU TAKE A PLATE OF CASSAVA FROM YOUR ENEMY? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! SO WHY WOULD YOU TAKE A TEST TRIAL DRUG?
