a company with no experience in road construction or airport financing get lucrative 160 million dollar contracts? We do not know the answer but if you do speak up!
For the fifth time in the last seven (7) weeks the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has been forced to call upon Prime Minister Stephenson King and his Communications and Works Minister Guy Joseph, to explain how Asphalt & Mining Ltd – a United States Company with no experience in road construction or airport financing was given contracts to construct EC $12.5 million worth of roads and raise EC$432 million (US$160 million) for the redevelopment of the Hewanorra International Airport.
Much thanks goes to the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) for at least asking the question, many others would have just looked the other way.
Brief Snapshot of the Recent Political Elections in Saint Lucia:
In the general elections held on December 11, 2006 the UWP, once again led by Sir John Compton, defeated the SLP, winning 11 of the 17 seats. The next elections in St Lucia are constitutionally due in December of 2011. The governing United Workers Party, and the opposition St Lucia Labour Party, along with the newly formed Lucian People’s Movement, are expected to contest the next elections. (Source)
Something you should know, even though all of these parties exist here is the truth:
Politics of Saint Lucia takes place in the framework of an independent parliamentary democratic Commonwealth Realm with Queen Elizabeth II (of Britain or the UK) as its head of state, represented by a Governor General, who acts on the advice of the prime minister and the cabinet. The prime minister is the leader of the majority party of the house, and the cabinet conducts affairs of state. The Governor General exercises basically ceremonial functions, but residual powers, under the constitution, can be used at the governor general’s discretion. The actual power in St. Lucia lies with the prime minister and the cabinet, usually representing the majority party in parliament. All the rest doesn’t matter.
A Little Snapshot of Queen Elizabeth II of Britain or the UK:
“queen regnant of sixteen independent sovereign states known as the Commonwealth realms, listed here in order of length of possession by the crown: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.” (Source) That sure is alot of nations filled with melanin enhanced peoples.
If you know what change is, how can it be brought about?
